Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB)
Workplace injuries can affect your ability to work, complete daily activities, and maintain your quality of life. If you are injured or become ill because of your job, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) provides benefits and support through Ontario’s workplace safety and insurance system.
WSIB may provide a range of benefits to eligible workers and their families, including coverage for healthcare services related to workplace injuries or illnesses.
If you have been injured at work and your employer is covered under WSIB, you may be eligible for benefits and treatment. For more information about your coverage and eligibility, please visit the WSIB website.
Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA)
Being involved in a motor vehicle accident can be stressful and overwhelming. If you have been injured, knowing what steps to take can make the process easier. Below is an overview of what to expect when seeking treatment following a motor vehicle accident.
Step 1: Report the Accident
Report the motor vehicle accident to your auto insurance provider as soon as possible.
Step 2: Schedule an Appointment
Visit Heartland Health and let us know that your injury resulted from a motor vehicle accident so we can begin your assessment and treatment.
Step 3: Provide Your Claim Information
For new patients: Please let us know when booking your first appointment that your injury is related to a motor vehicle accident.
Please bring the following information to your first visit:
- Claim number.
- Date of the accident.
- Adjuster’s name.
- Adjuster’s contact information.
For existing patients: If you have been injured in a motor vehicle accident, please let our team know before your appointment. We will schedule additional time to discuss your new injuries and complete a physical assessment.
Please bring the following information with you:
- Claim number.
- Date of the accident.
- Adjuster’s name.
- Adjuster’s contact information.
Step 4: Complete the Required Paperwork
In addition to our standard patient forms, additional paperwork is required for treatment related to a motor vehicle accident.
Your insurance provider will send you forms that you must complete. They will also provide Treatment Plan forms for your healthcare provider. Once completed, Heartland Health will submit the Treatment Plan directly to your insurance company.
Step 5: Insurance Approval and Billing
If your treatment plan is approved by your insurer, the cost of your therapy will be billed directly to your auto insurance provider.
If you have extended health benefits, the Financial Services Commission of Ontario (FSCO) guidelines require that your extended health insurance be billed first before any eligible remaining costs are submitted to your auto insurer.
Our goal throughout your treatment is to help you recover safely and return to your pre-accident level of function as much as possible.
